The local government, through the Solid Waste Management Board (SWMB), launched the Zero Waste Clean-up Drive in seven barangays and elementary schools in the early morning of January 27.
Rousing residents from an unusually cold start of day, the clean-up drive was spearheaded by municipal employees, the Bayambang Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, barangay officials, and representatives from elementary schools.

The activity is in connection with Proclamation No. 760, series of 2014, declaring every month of January as “Zero Waste Month” and in celebration of the 17th signing anniversary of Republic Act 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
The clean-up drive covered the areas of Bical Norte, Bani, Ligue, Asin, Alinggan, Amanperez and Malimpec, and Bical Elementary School, Bani Elementary School, Amanperez Elementary School, Alinggan-Banaban Elementary School and Malimpec Elementary School. According to the head of SWMB, Rogelio dela Peña, they are planning to implement the activity on a quarterly basis “para maging consistent and to make sure Bayambang will be the cleanest [town].” It can be recalled that the LGU successfully facilitated the same activity last September, two months after Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao’s assumption of office. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs Office)
