Bayambang Coach Dante Tamondong said he is contented with the way his team played against Malasiqui despite blowing their 17-point lead early in the game.
Malasiqui also managed to take a 1-point lead, giving Team Bayambang a scare in the 3rd quarter.
“We followed our game plan. Masyado silang malalaki kaya mahirap makipagsabayan. From thereon, we defended our court as if our lives depended on it,” Tamondong added.
With their relentless defense against the other team, every ball possession led to turnovers which helped pave the way for a successful 4th quarter run by the Bayambang cagers.
The tournament was organized by the provincial government of Pangasinan to showcase the 14 best-selected cagers ages 18-24 years old of each participating town and city in the province that will compete in the playoffs and the finals.
During the opening earlier on Saturday, Team Bayambang was cheered on by the presence of a busload of supporters from the LGU, including Vice-Mayor Raul Sabangan; Chairman of the Committee on Youth Affairs, Councilor Philip Dumalanta; Executive Director of the Municipal Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council (MPFSDC), retired professor Bernardo Jimenez; and other MPFSDC officers and members.
The next game is set on December 22 against Team Basista. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs)
