On New Year’s Eve, the public was invited to come and witness the Grand New Year’s Countdown at the Public Auditorium to mark the end of 2017 and celebrate together a new beginning on 2018. The long wait for the clock to strike at 12 midnight was eased by performances from local musicians and other artists. The countdown was, of course, punctuated by a grand fireworks display which ensured everyone in town was kept awake and in high celebratory mood even way past their bedtime.
