The Bayambang Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has announced that its second mega-job fair for the year has set a new record: having 102 applicants hired on the spot (HOTS).

According to PESO Manager Dr. Joel T. Cayabyab, the number of HOTS is used by DOLE and PESO as an indicator of the hiring rate in job fairs, and this year’s total is Bayambang PESO’s highest so far.

The office has no solid way of knowing how many applicants are hired exactly every time there is a job fair because the new hires do not report their status post-application. HOTS, therefore, is a good indicator of the rate of hiring.

PESO Officer-Designate Gerenerio Rosales said at least 20 local companies and 9 recruiters for overseas placement participated in the job fair, while 400 job hunters arrived. (A considerable number failed to register their attendance.)
