The local farmers took the centerstage in the “Agew na Dumaralos” as the town celebrates its week-long fiesta at the Bayambang National High School Gymnasium.
The said activity was a way of the LGU in thanking and recognizing the importance of heroes in the agriculture sector, for reaping a good harvest every year.
Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya, who spoke on behalf Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III, said the activity was a fitting tribute to the farmers who are behind some achievements of the town like being the number one in onion and corn production in the province.
Also, Moya said Bayambang should be thankful to have a very dynamic leader in the person of Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, who is practically the anchor of the ongoing development, progress and massive transformation in the town.
“Farmers are the major catalysts in achieving such goals, especially that Bayambang is considered as an agricultural town,” Moya added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao also thanked the farmers for their unwavering support to his leadership and their contributions to the development of Bayambang, adding that farmers should be honored not only during the celebration of the fiesta but instead be honored and recognized daily for their tireless effort in providing food not only in this town but the whole nation.

Quiambao also encouraged the land tillers to commit to a strong partnership between their groups and the government, and one way of doing that, he added, is to register their farmers’ association to the Securities and Exchange Commission. In this way, he said, they can get all the opportunities and benefits the government is offering to farmers.
Quiambao bared that there is a global company (Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand) eyeing to commit an investment worth P1.8 billion pesos which could make Bayambang a multi-agricultural town and the food hub of the country which could generate thousands of work opportunities in the town.
Towards the end, Quiambao promised that he will do whatever is vested in his power to try and build an irrigation pump for the farmers of Bayambang.
After the program, the farmers were treated to an acrobatic show and raffle draw. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs Office)
