Market Vendors Elect Officers per Section

In its bid to strengthen partnership with small and medium enterprises, the local government arranged a series of meetings with vendors of Bayambang Public Market, which culminated with an election of officers by section on January 27, 2017.

The meeting was spearheaded by the Municipal Administrator, Atty. Rodelynn Rajini A. Sagarino, at the office of the Special Economic Enterprise Department headed by Stephany Caragan. The resulting LGU-private enterprise association is envisioned to promote the protection and welfare of small and medium enterprises in the town, beginning with stall owners at the public market.

Atty. Sagarino told the newly elected by-section officers: “Kayo ang magiging boses ng inyong kanya-kanyang section sa public market.”

The meeting has the broader agenda of reconvening and reconstituting the Bayambang Business Club, which will be renamed as the Bayambang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, she added.

During the open forum after the elections, issues were raised by members of each of the Public Market’s 12 sections, namely Meat, Vegetable, Fruit, Fish, Dried Fish/Bagoong, Kakanin, Balut, Atay/Tusok-Tusok, School Supplies/Sari-Sari/Dry Goods/Electronics, Block II-B, Block III, and Food Handler (Ihawan and Lugawan) sections.

Among the most common concerns shared by the different sections are: drainage problem, lack of space, relocation site during the planned renovation, ambulant vendors, permit issuance and payment method, parking, zoning, and starting time of operation. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs Office)
