The Municipal Government of Bayambang has made it to the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance, the head office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on October 10, 2016.
Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, together with Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Romarie Soriano, accepted the SGLG plaque during the SGLG National Conferment Ceremony on October 27 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.
DILG Secretary Ismael ‘Mike’ D. Sueno said “passing the test of good governance means having complied with all the requirements of three core areas – financial administration, disaster preparedness and social protection, and any one of the essential criteria – business-friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, and environmental management.”
In Pangasinan, out of 44 LGUs, only 15 LGUs passed, and only Bayambang made the grade in the 3rd District. The assessment and validation was held last August by the DILG’s Regional Assessment Team.
Apart from the plaque of recognition, Bayambang LGU also received P3M as Performance Challenge Fund. Other opportunities awaiting the LGU through this award,” DILG informed the LGU in an earlier letter, include “facilitation of loan approval through the issuance of Good Financial Housekeeping Certification, and other program windows…”
Now on its second year, the SGLG is based on assessment of local governments nationwide using upgraded criteria from March to September 2016.
Congratulations to Mayor CTQ and the rest of the hardworking officers and staff of Bayambang LGU!
