Mayor Quiambao Inducts Bayambang District II Federated PTA Officers, Announces Opening of PUP Open University in Bayambang

The Bayambang District II Federated PTA officers were inducted into office by Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao who was also the guest of honor and speaker of the induction program held September 22, 2016 at the 3rd floor of Royal Mall.

After Dr. Ligaya C. Tacbi welcomed everyone, the new roster of officers was presented: President Lilia B. de Borja, Vice President Danilo C. Gubatan, Secretary Rosemarie D. Domantay, Treasurer Shirley P. Bautista, Auditors Lorelyn P. Pascua and Louinito R. Bautista, P.I.O. Dwane C. Castanares, and Business Managers Rosalina Soriano, Jane Publico, and Warlito Maregmen. Outgoing Municipal Federated PTA President Rodrigo Salvador congratulated the newly elected officers.

Board Member of the 3rd District of Pangasinan, Hon. Angel Baniqued Jr., graced the occasion. In his inspirational message, Atty. Baniqued stressed the importance of open communication between parents and teachers when it comes to addressing the needs of the schoolchildren.

District Supervisor Candra E. Penollar introduced the guest speaker, calling him “a man of humble beginnings but with a great vision” and praising him for his “pioneering spirit” and his “altruistic desire to pay it forward.”

In his speech, Mayor CTQ said his presence in the event signalled his “serious intention to help the educational situation of our town.” In line with this, he announced that he had fully activated the Municipal School Board, and the fund has increased from P1.2M to P6.3M.

“The school education fund for 2017 is P8,750,000,” he said further, adding that he has appointed a regular director of the School Board “because I need a policy guideline and policy executor.”

Mayor CTQ also took the opportunity to announce, among other things, the finalization of the papers allowing Polytechnic University of the Philippines to offer Masters in Public Administration in Bayambang in an Open University setting. He further announced that in June 2017, PUP will offer four-year courses in entrepreneurship, IT and broadcasting – all free of charge – to Bayambang out-of-school youth to encourage them to finish college.
