Furry, fluffy, and bubbly little contestants set the mood of the crowd as they displayed their creatively made outfits, absolutely stunning ramps, and undeniably cute photogenic expressions as they partake in the Pista’y Baley Dog Show competition at Pangasinan State University (PSU) grounds on Thursday, March 30.
The event started off with the introduction of the judges, Arvel Tutop, Nestor dela Cruz Jr., Klausner Macaraeg, Ryan Aguilar, and Junere Pidlaoan. Arcely G.
Robeniol, who was also one of the judges in the said competition, delivered her welcome remarks.
Like any other competitions, judges provided a short and simple list of the criteria for judging, which includes overall notable impression of the pet for 50%, creativity and design of the costume for 30%, stage presence for 10%, and audience impact for 10%.
There were 16 participants that took part in the contest. Seven were small breeds, and nine others competed for the large breed category.
Coming in as the grand winner in the small breeds category was contestant #9, Vasha, dressed in an elegant red dress and tiny red shoes. Second was contestant #10, Jahjah, whose costume screamed agriculture, and third was the cutesy little Jayce, contestant #15.
For the large breed category, Floyd, contestant #2, broke through as the grand champion, wearing his dashing Hawaiian top paired with his absolutely charming expression. Following close was contestant #6, Susie, with her elegant ramp, and lastly, Hachi, contestant #1, which brought awe to the audience as she walked down the red carpet full of confidence.
On the other hand, two other participants were chosen for the special awards. Little Julia, contestant #7, claimed the Bubble Bath’s Choice award, and big boy Pringles, contestant #18, received the YumYum’s Choice award.
DoggiEssentials served as co-organizer of the Municipal Agriculture Office as well as sponsor of the event. The giving of goodie bags which contained vitamins, toys, food bowls, and dog tees, six sacks of premium dog food as grand prizes, and free grooming services for all dogs concluded Day 4 of Pista’y Baley 2023.
