Qualifications of a blood donor
 Age: 18-65 years old; if 6-17 years old, should have parental consent; if 60-65 years old, should be regular donor or per discretion of physician
 Weight: at least 115 lbs/52.5 kg
 BP: 90-130 systolic and 60-90 diastolic
 If you have travelled abroad for a period of 1 month, you must have stayed in the country for 12 months right after
 Had no major/minor surgical procedure within a year
 If you have undergone a tattooing or piercing procedure, 12 months should have elapsed after the procedure (the tattoo/piercing will be assessed accordingly)
 Did not take medicine or had alcohol for at least 24 hours
 Had at least 5 hours of sleep
 Physically healthy
 Negative for sexually transmitted diseases
 Other guidelines for deferral will be assessed during interview for personal and medical history and physical examination
