Winners of the first-ever 3×3 Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament received their awards on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Balon Bayambang Events Center following the three weekend-long competition which started on September 16 and ended on October 1, 2017.
Players from Cadre Site, namely Onofre Basan Jr., Spencer Patayan, Arnold Quinto and Jomar Balajadia, bagged the championship trophy and P10,000 in cash for their exemplary performance during the competition. Cadre Site went head-to-head against Carungay’s Joeward Abalos, Raymart Cunanan, Dennis Garcia and Mark Edward Giron in the championship game. The competitors from Carungay went home with a trophy and P8,000.
Ron Arvin Saludes, Dennis Torio, Jhon Christopher Saygo and Pepito Salvador from Amanperez defeated Cedric Perez, Ronald Frias, Dominador Pascua Jr. and Veejay Palisoc of Barangay Sanlibo to secure the third place. The players from Amanperez and Sanlibo received P6,000 and P4,000, respectively.
The winning teams were given an opportunity to have photos taken with Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, Vice-Mayor Raul Sabangan, Councilor Amory Junio, Municipal Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council (MPFSDC) Executive Director Bernardo C. Jimenez, Municipal Youth Development Officer Joel T. Cayabyab, organizers Reddy Roland Mina III and Eduardo P. Sison II, and other members of the MPFSDC.
Making up the mythical three and receiving P1,000 each are Palisoc from Sanlibo, Garcia from Carungay and Saludes from Amanperez. Basan of Cadre Site received P3,000 after being hailed as the Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
The competition is a way of keeping young Bayambangueños away from vices by encouraging them to lead an active lifestyle through sports.
