Young Bayambang athletes brought home gold, silver and bronze medals for their performance at the Batang Pinoy 2017 sports competition in Lingayen in July 21-23, 2017.
The winning players were presented to Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao after the flag ceremony on July 24 at the Balon Bayambang Events Center.
The girls’ volleyball team bagged bronze medals, thanks to the stellar performance of its players Reyann Gayle Rodriguez, Roxanne Magalong, Kassandra Datuin, Aina Abellera, Angelika Tomacder, Richelyn Galolo, Hazel Ambat, Angeline de Vera and Ginalyn Odon and the guidance of Coach John Jordan Macaranas. Rodriguez and Magalong were able to qualify for the Luzon Leg.
The boys’ volleyball team claimed silver medals. It included Kobe Brian Tabuga and Emmanuel Dino Tabuga, who were both Luzon Leg qualifiers, and Bobby Andrew Tabuga, Jerry Boy Tabuga, Jay Joe Junio, Cristian Barrozo, Wendell Cayabyab, Sonny Boy Macaoay, Joel Menor and John Kefeer Kim Sican. They were assisted by Coach Reynaldo C. Poquiz.
Winning silver medals in boys’ basketball (3 x 3) were James Macaranas, Ralph David Gutierrez, BJ Palisoc, Ramon Fernandez and AJ Junio, assisted by coaches Sherman Castillo and Ric Macaranas. Macaranas also qualified for the Luzon Leg.
The swimming team went home with four gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals. The team qualifying for the Pangasinan Delegation is composed of Carl Yshmael L. Blanco, Keyile Rheyille T. Cayabyab, Kurt Adriane P. Enriquez, Jose Antonio P. Erto, Lance Eduard L. Rosales, Kerstin Marie P. Enriquez, Yeshia Altheya T. Cayabyab and Katherine S. Yauco. They were coached by Jacie Ann P. Erto and Ayessa Marie P. Enriquez (assistant coach),with the support of their teammates Jemuel I. Corpuz, Grace Umali, Joy Umali, Gerard Joshua Perez and Elouise Peralta, who were coached by Jerald Maneclang, Juan Catolico and Ruth Vallano.
Mayor Quiambao congratulated each junior athlete and their respective coaches and commended the Municipal Sports Council headed by retired Prof. Bernardo Jimenez for supporting the players throughout the competition.
