Bayambang PNP, in cooperation with the LGU, held a Drug Prevention Seminar on June 13-14 at the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation in Brgy. Amanperez. The seminar was given under the Community-Based Program for Drug Surrenderers being implemented by the PNP and LGU.
Part of the seminar was the surprise drug-testing for the surrenderers, so that those who showed negative results could be removed from the list of persons required to undergo the drug rehabilitation program being offered by the government.
Chief of Police PSupt. Cirilo B. Acosta Jr. recognized Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao’s role in the success of the program. “That is why we have something like this because of his all-out support,” Acosta said.
Addressing the surrenders about their bright prospects of being delisted, Acosta added, “Siguro ito na ang maituturing niyong pamasko namin sa inyo.”
The guest speakers included Municipal Public Health Officer Dr. Paz F. Vallo, Dangerous Drug Board representative Dr. Nicolas Miguel, and Pastor Elorde Agabao.

Also present were various Punong Barangays.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Vallo urged the surrenders to once and for all give up illegal drugs because these would lead them to nowhere, and to instead get high on God.
Dr. Miguel, banking on his 35 years of experience as the director of Bayambang District Hospital, gave an equally helpful dose of advice. “Ang makagagamot sa inyo ay sarili niyo rin. Alalay lang kami, to boost your morale.”
“Please understand na kayo ay anak ng Diyos, importante kayo kasi each of you plays a unique role in our society’s development. We welcome you back, basta’t umpawil kayo ed maong ya landas. Huwag na sanang mag-‘BSDU’ pa – meaning, balik sa dating ugali.
Ptr. Agabao echoed the same piece of advice as the earlier speakers, saying, “Andito tayo dahil sa pagbabago – not just for physical healing but also for soul-cleansing. Narinig niyo naman na kahit mga duktor sila, alam nilang Diyos lang ang tunay na makakapagpabago sa atin, the only one who can deliver us from evil.”
At the end of the testing, PNP revealed the happy news that 423 out of the 449 drug surrenderers/reformists present tested negative and thus stand to be delisted from the roster of the PNP’s watch list.
