Medical-Dental Mission Draws Thousands of Bayambangueños

The Community of Praise Parañaque and the Local Convention of Southern Churches, Inc., in partnership with the Local Government of Bayambang, successfully held a medical and dental mission last May 20 at the Municipal Events Center.

The activity was aimed at assisting the LGU in providing aid to improve the health and lives of people in the town who have limited or no access to the most basic medical health necessities of life.

The activity provided dental extraction, toothbrush drill/fluoridization, circumcision, ultrasound, urinalysis, fasting blood sugar test, cholesterol test, hemoglobin test and hematocrit test. Prescribed medicines (1,073 pieces) were also given away for free.

As expected, a crowd of almost 2,000 Bayambangueños showed up at the mission site, with the young and old patiently awaiting their turn.

Municipal Administrator Rodelynn Rajini A. Sagarino, in behalf of Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, thanked the visitors and volunteers for providing assistance to the LGU, even as she added that “if only possible, Mayor Quiambao wanted to do this every day.”

It can be recalled that Mayor Quiambao launched the Komprehensibong Serbisyo sa Bayan early in his term to bring local government services, especially medical-dental services, nearer to those living in barangays far away from the center. He also launched the thrice-a-day supplemental feeding program, which helped erase Bayambang from the list of towns with the worst standing in child nutrition. All these projects have roughly the same aim: to help lift Bayambangueños out of poverty and particularly to help them meet their nutritional and healthcare needs.
