Bayambang LGU, 2nd Runner-up in Banca Parada during Pista’y Dayat 2017


Bayambang LGU’s eye-catching boat won the third place in the Banca Parada (fluvial parade) contest, one of the highlights of Pista’y Dayat 2017 celebration held May 1 by the provincial government.

According to the Pangasinan Public Information Office, 186 colorful motorized bancas participated in two categories (Barangay category and Municipalities, Etc. category), attracting spectators along the Limahong Channel from early morning till noon. For the latter category, there were about 160 competitors.

Bayambang’s boat was decked as a bird with gaily colored wings, with a fish stuck in its mouth, and laden with characters from local legends including Princesa Urduja (who is none other than Bb. Bayambang 2017 Ray Ann Claire Magno), Dyesebel (Queen Jan Rica Tagulao), and two diwatas (Lady Gwyn Pagsolingan and KC Donato).

The LGU delegation was led by Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Joel V. Camacho, who conceptualized the winning boat entry and organized the team that trooped to Lingayen for the competition. Camacho said this is the first time the LGU joined this contest.

The team received a trophy plus P15,000 is cash prize.
