The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Dagupan, in cooperation with the LGU through the Public Employment Service Office, has conducted an Orientation Program on April 21 at the Sangguniang Bayan Bldg. for the 35 students who qualified for DOLE’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).

Before discussing with the students the ins and outs of SPES, Panfilo Dioquino Jr., DOLE Dagupan’s Labor and Employment Officer 2, acknowledged Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao’s and PESO Manager Gerenerio Rosales’ role in making SPES possible in Bayambang in the recent years. “If not for the document of commitment to the project that Mayor Quiambao and Mr. Rosales had signed, this won’t be possible,” said Dioquino.

The student passers in this batch will be assigned for work over the summer to the LGU and Ariel and Fe Restaurant. Sixty percent of their wage will be shouldered by the LGU, while the remaining 40% will be shouldered by DOLE, said Dioquino.

The program is meant to augment needy students’ source of funds for tuition fees and other school expenses.
