The winners in the Best Float Competition during the Town Fiesta Grand Parade last April 1 are:
- Farmers’ Association of Bayambang (P25,000)
- Market Vendors Association (P20,000)
- Sanlibo National High School (P15,000)
- Dep Ed Bayambang District II (P10,000)
- Pook ni Urduja (P5,000)
The Farmers’ Association won the top prize for its “unique concept of using rice hull to create a bahay kubo. The architectural design was strikingly beautiful and stood out among the floats in competition,” said Prof. Januario Cuchapin, Bayambang Municipal CC and the Arts Executive Director.
The Market Vendors’ float amused because it was most apt: on display along the sides were wet market products neatly laid out on bilaos (winnowing baskets).
Pook ni Urduja’s float harked back to precolonial times (that is, the legendary Princesa Urduja’s era) with its staff posing as sentries while clad in eye-popping tribal wear.
The judges in this competition were Jonas Dizon, Jeffrey Bachar, Raymund Aquino, and Prof. Cuchapin.
