District 9 proved that age does matter after snatching the crown 89-84 over the youngsters, the Bayambang Juniors team, in the do-or-die match of Game 3 of the finals.

The series favored the much-experienced District 9 all-star team 2-1, ending the quest of the Bayambang Juniors Team for the championship.

The first game was won by the Bayambang Juniors Team, whose line-up were all 18 years and under, shocking the crowd and the very much older District 9, whose players had ages ranging from 30 years and under.

After suffering the finals’ first game, District 9 came up with a master plan mustering all their experiences to drive away the very energetic Juniors team.

In the end, District 9 took Games 2 and 3 to capture the 2017 Palarong Bayan title.

Jeffrey Lara took home the finals’ Most Valuable Player, and Christian Ferrer as the League’s Most Valuable Player.

District 3 came up as the third placer, beating District 7, which placed fourth.

Mr. Jun Marzan of the Philippine Basketball Association was on hand to award the champions and recipients of special citations.
