One-hundred-nine donors proved that heroism is in their blood by overcoming their fear of blood and the needle and showing up at the Balon Bayambang Events Center on June 24.
Thanks to their bravery, they have literally contributed to Philippine National Red Cross’s blood bank, from which pregnant women, patients undergoing dialysis or some other procedure, and soldiers wounded from battle may readily draw from.
Of course, they also came over to avail of the benefits of donating blood, which is still something good — at least for their own well-being. Among the benefits of donating blood are improved circulation, lowered risk of having cancer, having one’s blood pressure and hemoglobin level checked, getting screened for possible infectious diseases (hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, malaria, or HIV), and even losing some calories.
This project is a collaboration between LGU Bayambang’s Rural Health Units 1 and 2, Philippine National Red Cross, Rotary Club of Bayambang, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, Local Council of Women, and Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation.
