Attended by jampacked audiences, the opening day of Pista’y Baley 2023 successfully concluded its first day with the Invitational Street Dancing Presentation held at Pangasinan State University (PSU) grounds after the splendid opening parade early morning of the same day, March 27.
Eight participating street dancing groups showcased their municipality’s culture, people, and products. There were two street dance groups from Bayambang that presented multiple festivals, such as corn, onion, and malangsi (freshwater fish); two Tarlac province groups represented Kamote Festival; dancers from Lingayen for Bagoong Festival; Calasiao introduced the Puto Festival; San Carlos proudly exhibited the Bamboo-Mango Festival; and San Manuel presented Balligi Festival.
These groups have been champions in previous street dancing competitions.GMA 7’s ‘The Clash Season 3’ grand finalist Ruther Renz Robosa serenaded the crowd and brought the audiences’ heartbeats to the roof as he sang OPM hits.
Not long after, invited street dancers showed off their explosive and goosebumps-inducing performances. Present during the program were Mayor Nina Jose-Quiambao with her husband and former Bayambang Mayor, Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao, Vice-Mayor Ian Camille Sabangan, Municipal Councilors Philip Dumalanta, Benjamin Francisco de Vera, Jose Ramos, Amory Junio, Gerardo Flores, Martin Terrado II, and Levinson Uy; Liga ng mga Barangay President Rodelito Bautista; SK Federation President Gabriel Tristan Fernandez; Pista’y Baley Hermana and Hermano Mayor, Dr. Nicolas and Dr. Myrna Miguel; BMCCA Director Prof. Januario Cuchapin; and the overall organizer of the event, MTCIAO head and BPC President, Dr. Rafael Saygo.
Despite the heavy rains during the latter part of the event, everyone in the crowd endured and watched with pure awe and admiration toward the performers. All street dancers were persistent to continue dancing to entertain the audience and to showcase everything they had prepared for the much-anticipated Pista’y Baley 2023.
Each of the invited street dancing groups was granted more than ₱50,000 additional incentive by the end of the event as Mayor Niña’s gesture of appreciation for their heartwarming and dedicated presentations.
