The Bayambang Community-Based Literacy Program will be unveiled soon as an intensive intervention to improve the reading skills of non-readers among the town’s Grades 4, 5, and 6 learners.
With the theme, “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader,” it will initially target pupils from claimholder-families from the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilya Program. The literacy program — which will consist of training of trainors(selected teachers) and special Saturday remedial classes for non-reader learners — will be headed by Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, a reading specialist from the Pre-Elementary Education Department of the Pangasinan State University-Bayambang who is serving as a volunteer, in coordination with the Chairman of the Local School Board, Dr. Rolando Gloria, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Gabriel Tristan Fernandez, MSWDO/DSWD, and Bayambang Poverty Reduction Action Plan.
Joining Dr. Resultay in the program implementation are District English Coordinators Leila Alonzo (District II) and Corazon Cayabyab (District I).
The program is expected to start in August.
