Bayambangueños and visitors from nearby towns came together on November 18, 2018 to witness the ceremonial lighting of the entire Municipal Plaza that officially marked the beginning of the Christmas season in Bayambang. Now on its third year, Paskuhan sa Bayambang 2018 features the biggest Animated Christmas Display in the country. It depicts the miracles of the municipality’s patron, Saint Vincent Ferrer, and the programs under the Revolution against Poverty, a revolution that aims to pave the way into a brighter future for all of Bayambang.
Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, his wife, Niña Jose-Quiambao, Vice Mayor Raul R. Sabangan, Councilors Martin Terrado II, Amory Junio, Benjamin de Vera, Joseph Ramos, Mylvin Junio and Philip Dumalanta, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Gabriel Fernandez, and Hermano and Hermana Mayor Dr. and Mrs. Julie Fernandez gathered at the stage following a Thanksgiving Mass and a short program organized by the Team Quiambao-Sabangan, the Local Government Unit of Bayambang, and the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation, Inc. Together, they pressed the button that opened the first run of the Christmas Animated Display and switched on the lights all around the plaza. Adhering to the theme Paskong Bayambangueño Para sa Mundo, the different areas of the plaza correspond to different countries/continents, including USA, Europe and the Middle East, with replicas of landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Hollywood sign, and the Burj Khalifa, to give Bayambangueños a taste of different cultures.
“Ito po ay isang handog para sa inyo, para sa inyong kasiyahan, para sa ating bayan, para naman sana sa pamamagitan ng kasiyahan ay tayong lahat ay magkaisa,” Mayor Quiambao said. Mayor Quiambao and Vice Mayor Sabangan ceaselessly called for unity among Bayambangueños, especially during this season. “Kung mahal po ninyo ang inyong mga anak, kung mahal po ninyo ang ating mahal na bayan, magkaisa po tayo, ipakita natin na sa bayan ng Bayambang ay may pagkakaisa at may pagmamahalan,” Vice Mayor Sabangan said.
Former councilor Levin N. Uy was avidly remembered during the opening. The Executive Director of the KKSBFI is one of the brains behind Paskuhan sa Bayambang and the multi-awarded foundation he used to manage is one of the main sponsors during the event.
