As part of its professional development program for LGU employees, the Human Resource Management Office headed by Nora Zafra kicked off a series of activities by organizing the Seminar-Workshop on Effective Writing last January 24 at the Balon Bayambang Events Center.
The pool of resource speakers was composed of retired English professor and newspaper columnist Dr. Leticia B. Ursua, freelance writer-editor Resty S. Odon, and writer/reporter Patricia M. Espino, all of whom belong to the LGU’s Public Information/Media Affairs Office.
In his welcome remarks, Atty. Raymundo B. Bautista underscored the importance of the workshop as he cited his experience with all sorts of letters and documents that constantly reach his office. Among the most unintentionally humorous ones, he said, are letters with incorrect word usage, as in one case mistaking the word “pervert” for “fervent” (as in “pervert desire”).
Among the other activities lined up under the HRMO’s professional development program are seminars on cooking, livelihood, and information technology.
