Bayambang Warriors goes 2-0 over the weekend


The Bayambang Warriors continue their journey on the elimination games of the ongoing 2nd Inter-town POGI CUP basketball tournament by winning their last two games over the weekend. Last December 9 at the Basista Gym, the team won despite the homecourt advantage of Team Basista. They led from the start of the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 116-80 victory. The Warriors were led by rookie Christian Sabangan with 32 points coupled by his 4 three-pointers.

Yesterday, December 10, as the host of the 2nd Inter-town POGI CUP basketball tournament, the Bayambang Warriors won against Sta. Barbara to the tune of 93-76. The Warriors led by as much as 15 on the early parts of the 1st half but Team Sta. Barbara retaliated with a run, bridging the latter parts of the 2nd quarter up to the end of the 3rd quarter as they trimmed the lead to six entering the final quarter. Rising up to the occasion in the 4th quarter, the Bayambang Warriors unleashed a game-clinching run led by the 3-pointers of Jeffrey Lara, and the hustle plays of Nelson Estrada and Rex Chico. Lara led the Warriors with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals, and these were backed up by Estrada’s double-double effort (11pts, 12 rebs) and Chico’s 14 pts, 7 stls. The Warriors now stand 4-2 (at 2nd place), trailing the defending champions Team Binmaley (6-0).

The next games of the Bayambang Warriors will be on Dec. 16, 2017 at 1pm at the Calasiao Sports Complex against the San Carlos team and on Dec. 17, 2017 at 3pm at the same place against Mangaterem.
