Local basketball fans could not restrain themselves the minute Adamson University’s Soaring Baby Falcons high school basketball team members walked one by one out of their holding area into the court.
The delegation was led by Coach Alex Barrera and Engr. Melvin Palisoc Jr., who is from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, and a scouting talent of Adamson University. Palisoc also happens to be a friend of Councilor Amory Junio.
Councilor Junio is the one who convinced the team to come visit Bayambang for an an exhibition game with Bayambang National High School.
The game was made brighter by the presence in the audience of UAAP star Jerrick Ahanmisi, who belongs to Adamson’s Soaring Falcons varsity team.
Earlier, in the morning, another exhibition match — a volleyball game — was held between Adamson’s junior Lady Falcons and University of Luzon’s women’s varsity team.
Despite the use of free tickets issued by the LGU to control the crowd, some 1,800 spectators jampacked the Events Center, with scores of fans braving the heat outside to view the game live on the LED screen assembled by the ICT Department.
Adamson’s Director of Office of Athletics and Recreation, Fr. Aldrin Suan, C.M., thanked the LGU, saying his delegation was impressed with POSO’s security preparation. “It’s the first time for our kids to experience such kind of treatment,” he said.
