The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bayambang, together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office (MDRRMO), conducted a Refresher Training Course on fire safety and prevention for Brgy. Pantol officials on March 9, 2017.
BFP and MDRRMO personnel said the training is a safety measure in case a fire breaks out in a barangay setting that is far away from the center of town. Barangay Pantol is situated at the southern tip of Bayambang, and to reach the barangay from the center by car, one needs to traverse the towns of Bautista and Alcala.
One of the schemes shared that is deemed best suited for this setting is asking locals to line up to manually relay buckets of water to quench fire.
This activity is in line with the national observance of Fire Prevention Month, which takes the theme, “Buhay at Ari-arian ay Pahalagahan, Ibayong Pag-iingat sa Sunog ay sa Sariling Pamayanan Simulan.” (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs Office)
