The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) has passed Municipal Ordinance No.5, series of 2016, an anti-noise ordinance prohibiting the usage of after-market exhaust system or non-original exhaust system and modified mufflers.
The ordinance was co-authored by Councilors Amory M. Junio and Martin E. Terrado II.
According to the SB members, the move was due to an increasing number of complaints from residents of the town about the excessive noise generated by these mufflers as well as increasing evidence of the negative impact of excessive noise on the health, safety and welfare of Bayambangueños.
The ordinance, which has been implemented since December 12, 2016, applies to all motorcycles (2-wheeled vehicles) and tricycles (3-wheeled vehicles) within the territorial jurisdiction of Bayambang.
Members of Bayambang PNP and Public Order and Safety Office are directed to carry, enforce and execute the said ordinance.
Riders who will violate the ordinance will face the following charges: For the 1st offense, the violator will be fined with P200.00. For the 2nd offense, the violator will pay P500.00, and for the 3rd offense, there will be a P1,000.00 fine and suspension of license for one year.
