The training aimed to educate the BPATs on their roles and responsibilities in governance, equip them with skills on arrest and seizure, and inform them of the provisions of “Katarungang Pambarangay” or the Barangay Justice System, a justice system peculiar to the Philippines. It is operated by the smallest of local government units, the barangay, and is overseen by the barangay captain, the highest elected official of the barangay and its executive.

The training was participated in by some 385 BPAT members coming from the town’s 77 barangays.

Chief of Solid Waste Management Rogelio dela Peña took the opportunity to talk about the role of Barangay Patrol Kontra Basura in implementing the Ecological Solid Waste Management Law.
