Agri Trainors, Trainees Visit Pilot Mechanized Farms

Last June 27, the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)-Regional Training Center I and its trainees made site visits to Bayambang as part of its “Training on Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) for Rice” held in Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan on June 24-28, 2019.

The Municipal Agriculture Office, in collaboration with the Bayambang Poverty Reduction Action Team, welcomed the visitors, who included Irene Estrada of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Jeimelie Constantino, Reylyn Ermitaño, and Jordan Gabur of ATI.

According to ATI, the training aimed to “capacitate Agricultural Extension Workers with necessary skills, attitudes and knowledge on GAP for rice production, and with hopes that more GAP-ready farms will soon be certified.”

The training included site visits to Brgy. Warding for an orientation on the operation of the riding-type rice transplanter and to Brgy. Pantol for an orientation on the mechanization of crop planting using the double mulching technique and seeding and seedling tray preparation.
