A walk through the trails of time and memory lanes has been made, as various batches of alumni from different educational institutions in Bayambang did a toast of union and gave extended support to their Alma Mater during the annual Grand Alumni Homecoming, April 7.
Batches ’79 and ’94 hosted this year’s homecoming for Bayambang National High School Alumni, anchored on the theme “Eskuwelaan Ko: Aroen Ko, Pawilen Ko tan Tulungan Ko,” which aimed to instill in every alumnus the desire to love, to serve and to never forget his former school and hometown as well.
The occasion commenced with a thanksgiving mass, followed by a parade of different batches led by the Golden Jubilarians (Batch ’69.) A variety of floats that were colorfully ornamented were also presented along Poblacion area.
“Our celebration of Pista’y Baley 2019 reflects everything starting with the glory and commitment to our faith, the discipline and beauty of every barangay and up to the utmost solidarity in helping each other among the townspeople of Bayambang,” Dr. Henry J. Fernandez, Chairperson of Pista’y Baley 2019 Executive Committee, expressed in his words of welcome at the Alumni Night held at the Municipal Plaza.
Further, Fernandez also acknowledged the officials and personnel of the Local Government Unit of Bayambang who were responsible for the countless milestones of the town especially the newly-minted “Tallest Bamboo Sculpture (Supported)” in the world, one of Saint Vincent Ferrer
Meanwhile, Municipal Mayor, Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao, encouraged all Bayambangueños to unite and wholeheartedly help one another in achieving the town’s common goal. “I encourage each and every one of us to take this event as an opportunity to unite with each other. Let us manifest all of these (love, peace, and unity) in our hearts in loving and lending a hand to each other in uniting in this town,” the mayor added.
On the other hand, a moment of solemnity and prayer was offered for the late Federated BNHS Alumni Association President and former Councilor Levin N. Uy in recognition of his dedication to service.
As the night proceeded towards its peak, Mr. Romyl A. Junio, Executive Director of Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation, and Dr. Mary Ann J. Payomo, Principal IV of Bayambang National High School, and Capt. Manolo T. Gacutan, the new Federated BNHS Alumni Association President, led the recognition of the Golden Jubilarians (Batch ’69) likewise in the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to all participating batches and the following Special Awards: Best in Attendance, Oldest Batch Delegation, and Lone Representative of a Certain Batch.
Afterwards, the mantle of responsibility was passed on by the host batches led by the presidents, Dr. Lalaine M. Lansangan (Batch ’79,) and Ms. Jonalyn M. Agustin (Batch ’94), to the next host batches represented by Ms. Aurora Glenda B. Ramos (Batch ’80) and Ms. Jocelyn D. Villegas (Batch ’95).
The merriment continued as the most awaited dance of the night kicked off. The groovy music, delectable foods, special presentations, and endless reminiscing definitely made the night echo with fun and unforgettable experiences. (Photos by Wenchie Artacho)
