CSO Conference: A Call for Accreditation

The various civil society organizations (CSOs) in town were called to a conference at Balon Bayambang Events Center on August 3, 2019.

As per Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular 2019-72, it was meant as a call for all CSOs to be accredited by the LGU, so they could be legitimized as members of local special bodies.

The conference was spearheaded by the Municipal Planning and Development Office under Ma-lene S. Torio in coordination with the Sangguniang Bayan through SB Secretary Joel V. Camacho and the new Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Royolita P. Rosario.

Rosario discussed the relevance of participatory governance, while Camacho discussed the guidelines on LGU accreditation of CSOs and reconstruction of local special bodies. Atty. Bautista’s talk delved on the avenues of CSO participation as provided for in R.A. 7160, while Torio delved on the formulation of a local CSO network.

Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao graced the occasion by giving an inspirational talk on the importance of CSOs in participatory governance.
