REBOLUSYON LABAN SA KAHIRAPAN NG MGA GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES: LGU employees take up Financial Literacy 101

“Did you know that if you save P20 each day at age 25, you will have P5 million by the time you reach 60 years old?”

This and other nuggets of financial wisdom were relayed to LGU employees through the Financial Coaching Seminar organized by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) on October 19 at the Balon Bayambang Events Center.

HRMO head Nora Zafra explained that this seminar is part of Mayor Cezar Quiambao’s professional development program for LGU employees. Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Dr. Joel T. Cayabyab also pointed out that this latest effort is also among those outlined in the Bayambang Poverty Reduction Plan for 2018-2028.

The speaker tapped for this seminar was Maria Loreta Aquino-Lozano, Marketing Director of the International Marketing Group (IMG). Lozano had been an educator and an LGU employee before she embraced the financial coaching profession, and she shared many of the typical financial problems faced by government employees like overspending and drowning under the weight of debts.

Lozano introduced technical terms such as mutual fund and concepts in financial literacy such as investing in the stockmarket as an alternative, and passive, income stream.

The employees who attended represented all LGU departments and are expected to pass on their new knowledge to their coworkers and families.
