Bayambang Hosts Pangasinan Public Librarians’ 1Q Meeting

Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao, together with Municipal Librarian Leonarda Allado, led LGU-Bayambang in welcoming officers and member of the Association of Pangasinan Public Librarians, Inc. as they hold their first Quarterly Meeting at Niña’s Café on February 23.

In his welcome remarks, Chief of Staff and Legal Officer Atty. Raymundo B. Bautista Jr. extolled the role of librarians in society, calling them the keepers of knowledge and protectors of information, among other things.

According to Allado, 39 participants from different towns and cities of Pangasinan gathered for the meeting. Among the visitors are Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Cluster Director Engr. William B. Rotas, who came from Baguio City, and staff members Mary Jane B. Nerona, Laarni C. Cañero, Onofre C. Balanon, Conrado P. Castro Jr., and Meny Jose M. Cabacungan.

During their visit to the new Municipal Library in the afternoon, the visitors from the DICT presented the new monitoring system for their Tech4Ed (Technology for Education) Platform and Learning Management System installed at the library. This coming March of 2018, the DICT targets to launch the availability of online application for different services given by such national agencies as Social Security System, National Bureau of Investigation, PAG-IBIG, PhilHealth, and Philippine Statistics Authority. With such an offer, the public can freely fill out forms of these agencies online, saving them from traveling all the way to Manila or to regional centers.
