Two new ambulances that the LGU had purchased arrived on Monday, February 20, 2017.
According to the OIC of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC), Genevieve U. Benebe, the LGU was left with two old ambulances when Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao assumed power, but both were no longer functional. There is, however, one ambulance that the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation has been lending to the municipality to augment its social services.
A simple blessing rite was conducted for the newly acquired vehicles, which are meant to be used for free by Bayambangueños during medical emergencies and rescue operations in coordination with the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), MDRRMC, or Municipal Action Center.
Included in the ceremony was the blessing of an existing rescue vehicle and the newly refurbished MDRRMC Office. Now neatly painted and more spacious, the present MDRRMC office is slowly being equipped with emergency and rescue equipment and has added a training and conference room upstairs. An outboard machine for use as rescue vehicle has also been repaired.
More ambulances are scheduled to be come soon in addition to the two new arrivals, with the current administration’s plan to eventually acquire an ambulance for every district in the coming years.
These new developments are seen to strengthen the capacity of Bayambang to provide free help to its citizens during emergency and rescue operations. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs Office)
