Seed Distribution to Farmers Ongoing

The National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) Region 1, through the Office of the Municipal Agriculture (MA), distributed eight sacks of rice seeds to eight farmers coming from Barangays San Vicente, Amancosiling Sur and Inirangan last Tuesday, November 22, at the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation Facility in Amanperez.

This is part of a series of seed distributions started last October, which aims to promote and accelerate the development of the seed industry and to help the town’s farmers. The distribution is in accordance with Republic Act 7308, an act to promote and develop the seed industry in the country and create a national seed industry council, and for other purposes.

According to MA Officer-in-Charge Artemio Buezon, the NSIC and the MA have, so far, distributed 25 cans of red onion seeds to 25 farmers from 18 barangays, 29 cans of white onion seeds to 29 farmers from 28 barangays, 40 bags of garlic seeds to 34 farmers from 19 barangays, and assorted vegetable seeds to 575 farmers from 55 barangays.
