Despite the heavy rainfall, close to 1,700 senior citizens of Bayambang trooped to the Municipal Covered Court as they were joined by the Bayambang Local Government Unit (LGU) in celebration of the Senior Citizen’s Week last October 3-7.
The week-long, fun-filled celebration had the theme, “Pagmamahal at Respeto ng Nakakabata, Nakakapagpaligaya sa Nakatatanda.” The culminating activity on October 7 opened with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Allen O. Romero, followed by a program filled with inspirational messages and entertaining numbers.
Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) Iluminada J. Mabanglo said this celebration was not possible without the strong support and the love being shown by Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao.
Atty. Rodelynn Rajini Sagarino, Municipal Administrator, assured the senior citizens that the local chief executive will continue to care for them. “Mayor Quiambao has lined up different programs for our senior citizens. This just shows how our Mayor appreciate and love our elderly people,” Sagarino added.
According to Municipal Social and Welfare Officer, Lerma Padagas, the OSCA already received new equipment like big TV screens, computers and printers under Mayor Quiambao’s leadership. “Malaking tulong ito sa OSCA para mas mapabilis ang processing ng kanilang mga pangangailangan,” Padagas added.
