In line with Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao’s thrust to make Bayambang one of the cleanest towns in the province, the Solid Waste Management Office (SWMO) in cooperation with the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) has conducted a two-day seminar dubbed as “Capacity Enhancement for Operation and Maintenance of Composting Facilities for Biodegradable Wastes” held at the Dusoc facility on September 29 and 30.
According to SWMO chief Rogelio Dela Peña, the seminar was aimed at training its underlings on how to operate their newly-acquired equipment given by the BSWM.
Bayambang LGU was granted two shredder machines, one rotary composter, and one compost tea brewer under Senator Cynthia Villar’s Housing and Fencing program.
Region 1 BSWM coordinator Engr. Diana Escote said that these machines will help lessen industrial and household wastes, and added that these machines can also convert wastes into organic fertilizers.
Ex-Councilor Levin Uy, who graced the seminar, said the Bayambangueños are now applauding the efforts of the municipal government to make the town very clean. “How much more if we can make this dumpsite become an eco-park,” he further said. (Bayambang PIO/Media Affairs)
